White Noise. Federico Drigo

Editorial design, Graphic design

Federico Drigo’s photo book White Noise is the result of a meticulous and painful editing process conducted on a vast archive of images: black-and-white photographs shot compulsively on film over a decade. The impulse to give form to such vast material responds primarily to a cathartic need, an attempt to both contain and embrace the bulimic nature of his practice.

The photographs flow across the pages at a frenetic pace, connecting through formal and compositional elements, but also through suggestions, lights, and sounds. Thus, the search for associations takes over, and the sequence of images becomes the very subject of the work. The individual images fade into a sort of background noise – the white noise — that brings about the author’s catharsis.
